Sick of Them Saturday!

After hearing about the same people or things all week long, I've come up with a new feature! Sick of Them Saturday! Each week I will feature the people and/or things I could honestly go the rest of my life without hearing about again since the media annoyed me with "news" about them all week! This week's features include:

1. Lindsay Lohan

lindsay lohan Pictures, Images and Photos

Sooo sick of hearing about her. I believe this is her second trip to the jail cell although I could be wrong. She was sentenced to 90 days, but apparently gets out this weekend. That sure was the fastest 90 days I've ever seen. Hopefully rehab actually works for her this time, but I somehow doubt it. I'm sure she will be in jail again in a year or so.

2. Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson Pictures, Images and Photos

Oh Mel. You really did it this time didn't you. I don't know what happened to Mel. He went from A-List movie star to the poster child for Anger Management. After his first racist, sexist tirade you think he would've learned his lesson. Apparently not though. I don't see Mel getting back on the top of the A-list anytime soon.

3. Jersey Shore

jersey shore Pictures, Images and Photos

I'm not gonna lie. I have never watched a minute of this show. The people seem completely annoying though. Not only that, but they see to be EVERYWHERE I look these days. If I am wrong and this show is actually emmy worthy I apologize. Somehow I don't think it is though.

Well there you have it. My first "Sick if Them Saturday" winners. Somehow I think they will be winners of this award in the near future. So my lovely readers, who are you sick of hearing about this week?

Weekly Song Wednesday

Time for Weekly Song Wednesday!! This week's song is about a year old, but I still love it! It is "Live Like We're Dying" by Kris Allen. Now many of you don't know, but I have a huge obsession with American Idol. Before I started this little blog of my own I did "Idol Live with Nicole" weekly @ Just Cherish Today. I will be doing that this coming season also :). Anyways, for those of you who don't know, Kris Allen was the winner of Season 8. I loved him the entire season, so when I finally heard his first single I fell in love with it. Like I said it's about a year old, but still a great song. Enjoy!

YouTube Tuesday!!

Time for another edition of YouTube Tuesday. This week we get a double feature...YAY! This week's featured video comes from the TV show "The Office". I just began watching "The Office" last summer, but thanks to TV on DVD now, I was able to get caught up very quickly. For those of you who don't watch it, you are missing out. It is HILARIOUS. Definitely one of my favorite shows. The clip below comes from the episode with Jim and Pam's wedding. The office crew decided to re-enact a video they had seen on YouTube, to the surprise of Jim and Pam. Of course with this group, it didn't go quite as smoothly as the original.

Here is the YouTube video they were re-enacting

"My 5" Mondays

Well I have been trying to figure out something that I could blog about on Mondays since I have YouTube Tuesday and Weekly Song Wednesday. I finally decided on "My 5 Mondays". Each week I will post a different "My 5" list. To kick things off, I decided this week's "My 5" will be:
"My 5 Crazy Fears"
1. SPIDERS!!! Actually I am freaked out by anything with more than 4 legs. Spiders, centipedes, any form of bug at all basically, besides lady bugs and butterflys. I am so freaked out by them that I am not even going to post a pic!
2. The BK King!

Bk King Pictures, Images and Photos

Seriously, how is this not the freakiest mascot EVER. The commercials where he is sneaking up on everyone freaks me out. Especially the one where the guy wakes up and the king is right there in his face. That would seriously give me a heart attack!

3. Chucky from Child's Play

chuky Pictures, Images and Photos

I think I am going to have nightmares now just for posting this pic. I remember watching "Child's Play" when I was about 8 years old. BAD IDEA. Especially since I had a TON of dolls. I remember everytime he would come on the screen I would hide my face behind a pillow. To this day, I can still not watch this movie.

4. The "Unsolved Mysteries" Theme Song

Seriously listen to this song and tell me it doesn't give you the chills. I remember scanning through the pre-programmed ringtones on one of my old cell phones and finding one that sounded similar to this and thinking WTF!!!

5. Chimpanzees

Frowning chimp. Pictures, Images and Photos

This is my most recent absurb fear. I remember falling asleep on the couch about a year ago while watching "Jimmy Kimmel Live". Well you know how sometimes when you fall asleep with the TV on and then start to wake up and you incorporate things from the TV into your dreams? Well that happened to me at about 430 am when "World News Now" was on. The recording of the 911 call from that chimp attack where the chimp ripped the womans face off was on. FREAKED ME OUT. Now I am completely freaked out my chimpanzees. Not monkeys or any other small primate. Just the ones that are the same size as me and have twice the strength!

So there you have it. My crazy fears. Does the BK King or "Unsolved Mysteries" theme song freak anyone else out? What are your insane fears??

Let's Hear It For New York

Back in May of 2007 I took a trip to Boston and New York City. My sister moved to Boston for a couple years so we went out to visit. First time we met her in Boston and spent 2 1/2 days in Boston. Great city! Lots to see and do there! We were able to take a chartered bus from Boston to New York City for $15! I don't think you can beat that! Funny thing, the bust dropped us off in Chinatown and our hotel was near Tribeca. The four of us WALKED there with out luggage and without the slightest clue where we were going. We took a little bit of a wrong turn, but somehow we got to our hotel. No clue how that happened actually. The second time we went was a year later in May of 2008. This time we just went to NYC and spent four days there. LOVED it! I would go back to New York EVERY YEAR if I could. Such a great time. I still haven't seen everything I wanted to, but I will go back sometime soon for sure! Below are some pics from my trips.

This was my first time in Times Square. Excuse the fact that I look like CRAP, but like I said, we walked to our hotel with our luggage for about 2 hours. Seeing Times Square for the first time is just amazing though :)

This is the Hersey's store in Times Square. A candy lover's heaven!! It smells AMAZING too :)

Rockefeller Center

The top three pics are from a mural on a building by Ground Zero.

Ground Zero in May of 2007. It seriously is so strange being there. Can't even describe the vibe I got being there.

New York Stock Exchange. I really just liked the flags :)

One of New York's finest :)

The second time we went to NYC the hotel we stayed in included a cruise. This is a pic of the skyline from the cruise. Wish it would've been sunny outside that day.

Statue of Liberty. So glad I got to see her up close.

Trump Tower. I wonder how long the elevator ride is to the top of that building...

All you need is...

Me sitting next to some weird thing @ Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. There was some insane things there. Most interesting museum I've been in :)

St. Patrick's Cathedral. This church is sooo beautiful!

My friend Kendra and me in Central Park.

They had just finished shooting a scene for the movie "When In Rome" when we got to Central Park.

Finally one of my favorite pics. This little thing took me a good two or so hours to find in Central Park. I never quite knew how huge that place was until I was looking for this. Finally found it though. The original pic was in color of course, but I changed it to black and white, uploaded it to Kodak.com and made it into a 16x20 poster that is now framed and hanging above my couch :) It was worth the time spent looking for it!

Christmas shopping in July!

Well I should really be cleaning up the apartment right now, but I found a mini "Deadliest Catch" marathon on the Discovery Channel so that won't be happening yet. Therefore I decided to type up a little blog entry for today :) Yesterday I took the day off work and took a little shopping trip down to Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills. I love this mall. So many great stores and they generally always have great deals. After a great lunch at the new "Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill", it was off to do some shopping. First purchase happened at Victoria's Secret. I was able to get all of this:

1 robe, 5 bottles of hand sanitizer, and 5 travel size lotions for $32.27. Retail value was $105. Total savings of $72.73!

Next stop was Carter's so I could get some Christmas gifts for my beatiful little nephew. I was able to get all of this:

Retail value: $86.00. Spent $32.21. Total savings of $53.79!!
Finally I headed down to Aeropostale. Had to buy a few things for myself on this little shopping trip too. I bought myself all of this:

Retail value: $164. Spent: $69.75. Total savings of $94.18!!
Kinda ended up spending more than I planned to, but I also saved more than I spent so not a bad day of shopping at all!

Follow Them Friday!

YAY!!! It's time for my second week of "Follow Them Friday". I'm not gonna lie. It took me FOREVER to figure out who was going to be my second featured blog. I finally decided on The Homesteading Apartment though.
The Homesteading Apartment

Living in an apartment myself, I just love this little blog. My favorite feature I think is Frugal Fridays where she offers cute ways to decorate for cheap. Of course if its cheap, you know I love it! Be sure to click the link and check her out. I'm sure you will love it also!! All of my followers will be featured in this section eventually so don't worry. Make sure if you want to be featured, you become a follower too! Enjoy!

Weekly Song Wednesday!

Of course I like songs with great beats or that are catchy, but I am also a big fan of the actual LYRICS of a song. That being said, this weeks song pick is "Angels on the Moon" by Thriving Ivory. I am pretty sure that I love every single lyric of this song and I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it. Enjoy!

The Bachelorette....U-G-H!

My addiction for reality TV leads me to watch "The Bachelorette" on Monday nights. Fellow watchers of this ill fated reality love series, know that Chris Harrison is the host and basically the only task he has each week is to talk to the Bachelor or Bachelorette towards the end of the show about each of the remaining contestants and then come out at the end of the rose ceremony and remind the contestants and America that "this is the final rose of the night". As if we can't see that ourselves. As if each and every contestant left without a rose isn't staring at that thing thinking "Thanks Chris, I clearly only see one rose left, but I thought there was one hidden behind his or her back before you shared that hidden piece of knowledge." I am sure he gets paid an amazing amount of money to say these eight words so good for him, I'd say them too. The last few seasons good old Chris has played a bigger part in the show since there seems to be at least one contestant that chooses to leave the show for work or an ex or some other reason. This just leads him to ask more obvious questions though apparently. Tonight Frank decides to leave the show so he can rekindle a relationship with his ex-girlfriend. He of course goes to tell Chris this which then leads Chris to ask the question "How do you think Ali is going to take it" or something along those lines. Seriously Chris? Do you need to ask that question? Do you expect him to say "I think she is going to take it great. Even though I am one of the final 3 guys, I don't think she likes me all that much". Seriously Chris!!!!!

Now onto my next annoyance with tonight's show. For all of you who DIDN'T watch "The Bachelor" last season, Ali was one of the remaining four girls. She CHOSE to leave the show and Jake so she could go back to her job. She told Jake that if she didn't return to work at that moment, she would lose her job. This left Jake devastated (and he ended up with that skank Vienna). Apparently she decided that she didn't like her job all that much after all because she ended up quitting her job and becoming the next bachelorette. I think that is completely unfair by the way. Ali had her chance with Jake and she chose not to take it. She didn't have her heart broken like the other girls. That's why I have had a problem with Ali all this season. Well fast forward however many months its been since she left Jake, and Ali is now in Tahiti with the final three guys. As previously mentioned, Frank decides he is going to leave the show so he can reunite with his ex. So when it finally comes time for his date with Ali, he tells her right when they see each other, in a serious manner, that he needs to tell her something. I'm pretty sure it was the exact same way that she said it to Jake a couple months ago. She seems completely thrown off by his seriousness and says she is worried. Well Ali, I'm pretty sure you should be. Don't you remember when you said those words....I'm pretty sure Jake was worried too wasn't he? After Frank tells her his decision she goes off on him and tells him how he is sooo selfish and "how could you do that to me". Ummm pot, its kettle calling to tell you that "YOU'RE BLACK". I seriously think that Ali completely forgot how she even ended up on this show. U-G-H...UGH!!

I live alone so I seriously will yell at my TV when things happen on it that annoy me. That's why I am so glad that I started this blog so I can vent my frustrations for everyone to read lol. I never had any intention of blogging about "The Bachelorette" tonight. I never expected it to annoy me as much as it did though. Well needless to say, since Frank left, there was no rose ceremony tonight. This means that either hottie Roberto or cutie Chris will most likely be proposing to Ali in two weeks. I like both of these guys a lot so I hope that whichever one ends up with Ali will actually have a lasting relationship with her. I don't have high hopes though considering the track record for this show. I do feel bad for Chris that he didn't get to tell us that "this is the final rose of the night" though.

It's shows like this that make me even more appreciative of the real "reality" of "Deadliest Catch"...which I will most definitely be watching tomorrow night :).

So readers, what do you think? Are any of you fellow "Bachelorette" watchers?? Do you think it was crap that Ali got to be the next bachelorette after choosing to leave the show last season?

Follow Them Friday!

So I'm totally stealing my bestie Becca's idea and making my Friday blog entires "Follow Fridays". What the heck though right, whatever helps people get more followers. Now currently I personally only have eight followers, but I hope that number will increase the longer I have this thing :) I totally appreciate all my followers too :) That being said, I of course am going to have to dedicate my first "Follow Them Friday" to Becca @ Just Cherish Today . I'm pretty sure most of you, if not all of you, already follow Becca, but if you don't make sure to check her out. She blogs about everything from decorating and her beautiful house to reality TV! I enjoyed reading her blog so much I decided to jump on the blog train myself! I was also a guest blogger there for the entire season of this year's Idol. Make sure to check it out if you haven't already!

Weekly Song Wednesday

Time for another edition of Weekly Song Wednesday! I had a song picked out that I was going to use for this week, but it's kinda a slower song and I figured since I had a sadder song last week I should pick an upbeat one this week. That being said I picked "Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band. From basically the first time I heard this song I loved it. It is such a feel good song! I can't listen to it and not have my mood lifted after hearing it. Such a great song with a simple message that we all seem to take forgranted every now and then. Enjoy!!

Deadliest Catch...My New Obsession!

As I stated in my "about me" section, I am addicted to reality TV. Of course I still love my sitcoms and dramas, but for some reason watching "real" people live their lives entertains me. I love the competition ones such as American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, but I find the ones that hook me in are the ones that just follow a certain group of people around. Of course with some reality shows you can tell they are "scripted" i.e. The Hills, but others are 100% real. Obviously the editors of these shows can basically make a person look like a sweetheart or look like the total villian and they do a good job doing that. I remember watching a "Real World" reunion special and one of the people were asked if they thought they were represented correctly on TV and they replied that everything that was shown on the show obviously actually happened. However, the producers and editors can of course make it seem like it happened in a totally different way, but none the less, it happened. I would have to say though that one of the most real reality shows would have to be "Deadliest Catch".

I remember one day my co-worker was talking about watching "Deadliest Catch" with her hubby the night before. I had never heard of this show so I asked what it was and she said it was about crab fishing and it was on the Discovery Channel. She said it was soo good. Well right off the bat I thought that had to be the most boring show ever. Seriously, she was entertained by watching a bunch of guys fishing for crab?? Well turns out she was right. This show is so addictive and hooks you in within a couple episodes. The first time I ever watched this show was when it came on at 3 am on a Saturday on Fox. I figured that of course this show would help my insomnia and cause me to fall asleep, but I was completely wrong. Next thing I know its 4 am and I'm really wanting to know what happens next, but of course I have to wait until the following week. After that inital eppy I would watch them on Saturday nights if I was still awake that late and began to learn who everyone was. My favorite crew from the beginning was the crew of the Cornelia Marie with Phil Harris as Captain. I'm not gonna lie, I leaned towards this crew initailly because Phil's two sons were deckhands and I thought they were pretty good looking. Well as some of you may know from the news, Phil Harris died unexpectedly this past February. I wondered how the show was going to handle it. Turns out they handled it very nicely. The season began back in April and of course Phil was alive and well when they first began shooting so we got to see a good 10 or 12 eppys with Phil doing what he does best. For the last few weeks though, they have been focusing on Phil's illness, recovery and now tonight his death. Phil wanted the cameras to keep rolling even though he was sick, so thats exactly what they did. By doing this, the world was able to see raw, intimate interactions with Phil and his sons right after his stroke. ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING!!! This is the by far the most real reality tv I have ever seen. If you have never watched the show, I strongly recommend it. I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed. Luckily, as with all cable channels, they rerun the eppys multiple times throughout the week so you can get caught up.

Below are a few clips from the show. The first one is of Phil's son Jake confessing that he is addicted to painkillers after his dad caught him stealing his pills. Phil really goes off on Jake and says some harsh things, but luckily the two were able to make up before Phil died.

Next is Phil's son Josh flying out to be with Phil and Jake and the other captain's telling their crews. This clip made me fall in love with this song!

The next clip is of Phil's son Josh and his friend and captain of another boat on the show, Johnathan on Jay Leno. It features a clip of Josh with his dad in the hospital shortly before he died. At this point, the doctor's were very optimistic that Phil was going to get better and they were actually about to send him to a rehab hospital in Seattle. So sad! Ultimately, Phil ended up dying of a pulmonary embolism caused from smoking so much.

Well now that you all have read about my new OBSESSION with this show, I highly recommend you checking it out. You will not be disappointed!!

YouTube Tuesday!

I seem to have a small obsession with YouTube. Occasionally I will go on there to look at one video and end up staying on that site for an hour or longer! So I decided I would make a weekly video pick and share it with my readers each Tuesday. I'm sure many of you will have seen some of these videos, but they are my favs. This week the video I'm sharing is about a little girl talking about monsters. Little kids amaze me with what they say because they are so innocent and honest and just say what's on their minds. Never a dull moment when you are having a conversation with a child! Enjoy!

Ramblings....

Here we are already halfway through summer. I can't believe that in a little over 5 months, Christmas will be here. Seriously! All you people reading this saying "Stop it", it's true. Before you know it we will all be watching football games and getting ready for Halloween. Of course before Halloween is even over the stores already have at least half of their Christmas decor out. Now I'm all for preparing and planning ahead and I'm gonna be honest and say I have actually started Christmas shopping. That is actually more because I have a new nephew and in order to spoil him like he should be I have to start buying stuff early so I don't go broke!

I don't actually know at what age it is that time actually starts flying by. I remember being a little kid and I couldn't wait to grow up. Time seemed to go by so slow. I was so excited to be able to be done with school and be out on my own with a "real" job. Now that I am done with school and out on my own with a "real" job, I miss being a little kid. Of course when I was a kid, adults would always tell me to enjoy being a kid and not to be in a hurry to grow up. Like all kids though, I thought they were full of nonsense. I miss the days of spending my summer vacation sleeping in everyday, having sleepovers with friends, playing outside and staying up all night. Now my summers consist of hearing my alarm go off at 540, working from 8-530, making dinner, cleaning, doing laundry, and watching a little TV. Of course on the weekends I get some nice time to head down to the pool, spend time with friends, and of course make the annual Detroit Tigers trip and Higgins Lake trip if time and money allow for them. Still though, I miss the days of doing nothing and having fun doing it. Don't get me wrong, I like my job and I'm very grateful that I even have a job, but every now and then I think about just taking a week off to do nothing. During my summers while I was in college Becca and I "worked", but we still found time to hang out almost everyday! I'm pretty sure we were attached at the hip for a good year or two straight! I miss that! Even after I graduated from college with my associates degree, I wanted to have one last "summer break". I told myself I wasn't even going to start looking for a job until August. Heck I was only 20 years old, I don't think I was ready to "grow up" yet. So that's exactly what I did. I enjoyed my summer, slept in all morning, stayed up all night, hung out with friends and worked my job as a sandwich artist @ Subway. Then sometime around August 20, I got a call about a job offer in the exact setting and place that I wanted to work. I couldn't have asked for things to turn out any more perfect than that. Five years later, I'm at the same job (which I love) and missing my summer vacations spent doing nothing but what I wanted to do.

So starting now and lasting until the end of summer I am going to try to spend my weekends enjoying the weather and the free time. I'm going to sleep in as late as I can, stay up as late as I can, and do whatever it is I want to do that day. I may not get to do it seven days a week, but I will sure be doing it the two that I can. Enjoy it while you can people, because before you know it the snow will be falling and all free time will be spent shopping and preparing for the holidays!!!

(Side note: If this seemed like it got confusing I apologize. I start off with ideas in my head and then get distracted and don't know where I was going with them. These blog entries will be entitled "ramblings" from now and and trust me, there will prob be a few of them!)

Coupon crazy!!!

I remember when I first moved into my own apartment 4 years ago. The first thing that I wanted to do was go GROCERY SHOPPING!!! I was so excited to just go to the store, fill my cart up with anything and everything that I wanted and come home and put it into my new empty cupboards, fridge, and freezer. I moved on a Friday afternoon when it was about 9o degrees out. I got to the apartment office, dropped off my deposit and got my keys. Get to my apartment, stick the key in the lock and IT DOESN'T WORK!! So now I have to call the maintanence guy since the office is now closed and wait an hour to even be able to open my door. Finally get everything moved in at about 10 p.m. Now the moment I've been waiting for. Time to hit the grocery store! I get to the store, fill my cart with everything I need and want and head for the checkout line. The cashier rings all my items, bags them and sticks them in my cart...then tells me the total. Almost $100!!!! Seriously?!?! I just spent $100 on food for one person that will only last a couple weeks! Needless to say, the desire to grocery shop ended there!

Being the frugal person that I am, I decided from now on everytime I go shopping I was going to be using coupons! These days I am clearly not the only one. I go to the store and see all these people with these big baseball card albums full of neatly, organized coupons. My bestie Becca has all of hers organized into every category imaginable in a nice photo box. I on the other hand cut all mine out and just stick them into an envelope. I am not organized AT ALL. One day that will change! I may not be the most organized coupon user, but I do search for any and every useful coupon I can find. Every Sunday I open the paper up and start clipping away. I also hit the internet for great deals. Some of my favorite coupon sites are
http://www.coupons.com/, http://www.redplum.com/, and http://www.smartsource.com/. I will also search for coupons for certain items like cat food, toilet paper, or laundry soap. I am determined not to pay full price for anything! I am pretty sure that in my independent living life I have paid full price for maybe 10% of everything that I have bought. Otherwise if its not on sale or has a coupon for it, its not getting bought at that moment!

Well now that I have blogged about my coupon habits, its time for me to get to clipping and hitting the grocery store. My favorite part now isn't filling the cart and it certainly isn't putting all of that food away. My favorite part now is looking at the bottom of my receipt to see how much I have saved :). So fellow coupon users, what are your favorite sources for coupons? Do share please!!!

Weekly Song Wednesday!

As I posted in my previous entry and in the about me section, I will be posting random songs that I am loving at the time. Well since I am starting this blog on a Wednesday, I decided to title these entries "Weekly Song Wednesdays". The first song featured is called "Rain" by Jon Heintz. I had never heard this song until last week while I was watching "Deadliest Catch" (which by the way you can guarantee I will be blogging about next week!) The song is pretty sad, but I absolutely love it! The clip they showed it during was pretty fricking sad too, so it's pretty fitting. Check it out and let me know what you all think!!!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog everyone! I honestly do not lead an interesting life, but for some reason decided to start a blog :). Like the title says, everything in this blog will be random. There will be the occasional insightful blog, entries about my current obsession, YouTube videos that I absolutely love, and songs that I just can't stop listening to at that moment. If I ever do anything interesting or have anything interesting happen to me I will also blog about that. Don't look forward to too many of those entries :). It will take me a few days to get used to this whole thing and get my page looking interesting so bear with me. I'm sure in the beginning of this process I will be posting like crazy. I will then stop for days or weeks at a time...mark my words. In the end though, I always finish what I started!
